As Legal Counsel at flatexDEGIRO you will act as a trusted advisor to the business, helping teams navigate complex legal and regulatory challenges while enabling sustainable growth. You will work closely with stakeholders across the organization and contribute directly to strategic initiatives.
Your impact as Legal Counsel
- Monitor and assess legal, regulatory, and industry developments relevant to the firm's activities, translating complex requirements into practical business guidance.
- Serve as a trusted legal advisor to management and business teams, providing pragmatic and solution-oriented support across a broad range of matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate, and manage a variety of commercial contracts and legal documentation.
- Advise on regulatory and legal matters relating to financial services, banking, and capital markets activities.
- Conduct legal research and provide clear, actionable recommendations to support business decision-making..
- Build and maintain effective relationships with external counsel, regulators, industry bodies, and other key stakeholders.
- Support corporate governance activities, contract management processes, and the maintenance of legal records and documentation.
- Assist with legal proceedings and matters involving seizures, estates, claims and other legal obligations.
- Represent and support the firm in negotiations, disputes, regulatory interactions, and engagements with clients, counterparties, courts, supervisory authorities, and dispute resolution bodies such as Kifid.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of legal processes, policies, and compliance frameworks.
What will make you successful in this role?
- Master's degree in Law (LL.M. or equivalent).
- 3-5 years of relevant post-qualification experience gained in a leading law firm and/or as in-house legal counsel, preferably within the financial services sector.
- Strong knowledge of Dutch and EU financial services regulation, banking law, and capital markets legislation..
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken; Dutch language skills are an advantage.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify legal risks and develop practical solutions..
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive, hands-on, and commercially minded approach to problem-solving.
- Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of professional integrity.
- Comfortable working in an international, dynamic, and evolving business environment.
